I was blessed to be raised in a Independent Baptist Preachers home. Although I did not always like the standards, or rules it has been those things that have brought me to know God's perfect will in my life. I was saved at a young age and though I questioned it several times in my life, it always came back to this, Darren you have sin in your life that is keeping you from the relationship Christ wants with you. My parents did not have to tell me that, God's word did the job. When asked by preachers where I was trained for the ministry, i always answer with this statement. University of My Dad and Mom. No training in the world could do what growing up in my parents home did for me. Dad had us doing ministries as soon as we were willing and able. On the job training you might say. So thank you mom and dad for all you did for me growing up and all you have done for me in the ministry. May God bless you for all you have done in the lives of so many. |
We started Wasatch Baptist Church and Intermountain Academy in July of 2005. Under the direction of my father and the church he pastors in Albany, Oregon. He is soon stepping back from pastoring and I want to honor his ministry here in this page. You can not know me long till you find out I have learned all I know from the best example of a pastor I know, my dad. |

Dad was born in Texas (don't hold that against him). He has pastored almost 46 years. He has pastored the longest in Albany, Oregon in the church he started early in his ministry. Harvest Baptist Church is a living example of the hard work and dedication my parents have had to God for all these years. It's been said that behind a good man of God is a great woman. My dad taught me that she is not behind you, but by your side. For over 51 years my parents have had a marriage that we all can say is a strong and healthy marriage. |
Dad and mon are planning to "retire" in March. I don't see dad siting on a warm beach somewhere, but more in the lines of in a church somewhere being hard at work in his retirement. Working in evangelism will prove to be a new and exciting venue in their ministry. The Lord has great plans for them. The number of souls that have been saved, and lives that have been changed would be impossible to count. I don't see ministry ending anytime soon because of this retirement thing. |
